The SHKP Book Club is an initiative by Sun Hung Kai Properties to promote reading in Hong Kong. The Olympic Games that just concluded in Beijing proved spectacular in many ways; dazzling the world with distinctive infrastructure, performers and athletes. The event has left an indelible impression of China across the globe. The Book Club’s latest magazine picks up on this theme; reviewing the country’s progress from different perspectives through photographs from different periods.
In addition to the regular book recommendations, the magazine features an interview with noted Chinese-American author Ha Jin. The piece gives readers an insight into this brilliant author as he describes his writing style and experience, and explains his views on eastern and western cultures. Another interview features Lily Franky, renowned Japanese author of the bestseller Tokyo Tower, talking about his personal feelings.
The literary magazine is distributed free at 120 bookstores and 19 SHKP malls, and is available at school and public libraries.
