Book Review Competition - Details
Objective
- Encourage reading and promote creative writing in the community
- To invite submissions of reviews on urban living and culture
Reviews
-
Review on any one of the recommended books, in Chinese or English
-
Various formats allowed including reports, fictions, prose and poems. Illustrations or graphics also welcome
-
No more than 1,200 words excluding punctuation
-
One review per book and multiple reviews by one entrant is allowed
Categories
- Junior: aged 6 to 12
- Intermediate: aged between 13 and 18
- Senior: aged 19 or older
Prizes
(Three in each category)
First: HK$8,000 (including HK$5,000 in book coupons)
Second: HK$5,000 (including HK$3,000 in book coupons)
Third: HK$3,000 (including HK$2,000 in book coupons)
Honourable mention (several hundred): HK$300 book coupon
Most Enthusiastic School Award
The three schools with the highest participation will each receive HK$5,000 in book coupons

The top three reviews in each category and the Most Enthusiastic Schools will be posted on this web site. Winners will be notified individually before the results are announced.

First, second and third place winners will be invited to attend the prize presentation ceremony and to speak with the media.

Selected entries will be posted on this web site.

Certificates of participation will be issued to all entrants after the competition.
Rules

Only reviews of the recommended books will be considered.

Limit of one review per entrant per book.

The deadline date will be the benchmark to measure the age of entrants.

Only entries received before the deadline will be considered. Entries by post with the stamp chop date before the deadline will also be considered.

Reviews cannot be modified after submission and will not be returned.

The organizer reserves the right to edit, publish and promote the reviews, with the entrant's name (or pen name), category, school and grade.

The organizer will published the work with the entrants' name (or pen name), category, school and grade.

Reviews must be the author's own work and not previously published.

Personal information provided must be accurate.

Breach of rules may lead to disqualification.
