About The Book Review Competition
The SHKP Book Club's latest book review competition was closed, after attracting an enthusiastic response. A number of the entries winning honourable mentions will be posted on this site, and the top three reviews in each category will be identified after the judging is over. Winners will be notified individually before the results are announced. We will also post a list of the Most Enthusiastic Schools in the competition. The SHKP Book Club was established to promote reading and writing in Hong Kong. Its book review competitions are an opportunity for you to share your thoughts about books and help us foster a new reading culture.
The latest book review competition is on the theme Embracing Your Dreams, and you are invited to submit reviews of any of the ten recommended books. Find your dream in the books tell other aficionados of literature how you were inspired.
- Reviews can be in Chinese or English and in any format, like fiction, prose, poem, etc.
- Chinese reviews must be no longer than 1,300 characters and English reviews no more than 1,500 words.
- Entrants can submit only one review per book, but can review more than one book from the list

Prizes (three in each category)
First: HK$8,000 (including HK$5,000 in book coupons) and trophy
Second: HK$5,000 (including HK$3,000 in book coupons) and trophy
Third: HK$3,000 (including HK$2,000 in book coupons) and trophy
Honourable mentions (several hundred in total): HK$300 book coupon and certificate
* Entries will be assessed and honourable mentions awarded as they are received. The judges will select the top three entries in each category from among the honourable mentions after the closing date.
Most Enthusiastic School Award
The five schools with the highest participation will each receive HK$5,000 in book coupons and a trophy.
