Summary

The story of a baby born with Downs Syndrome, told in prose and pictures through the eyes of the mother. Though their time together is short, the mother is encouraged by her son's happiness at surpassing one hurdle after another, and the fond memory of the child's six short years gives the mother something to treasure for the rest of her life.

Katou Hiromi was born in 1946 and has been a photographer since high school. She was married in 1991 and gave birth to a son in 1992. The son died in 1999.
